Huawei To Overtake Apple For 2018 Phone Sales

Bussiness Top Stories

Huawei Technologies is on the verge to overtake Apple for the first time in full-year smartphone exports and take 2nd place in the worldwide market, with over 200 Million units already exported this year.

The Chinese telecommunications firm has greatly elevated its sales in Europe, China, and Africa in 2018, and has already attained over 30% increment in worldwide unit sales as compared to the 153 Million traded in 2017. The P20 series, sporting high-spec cameras co-designed with Leica, was particularly popular.

Still, the arrest of a top official in Canada has positioned Huawei in the midst of the trade battle between China and the U.S. Companies and countries all over the world are shying away from its communications tool, and its handsets sales are likely to suffer next year.

The U.K., Australia, and New Zealand have joined the U.S. in not including Huawei tools from their next-gen 5G networks. And previously this month, Japan efficiently prohibited Huawei and ZTE from government deals to guard in opposition to leaks of sensitive info.

On a related note, Huawei earlier claimed that it is operating on AR (augmented reality) smart glasses which might make entry in the coming 1–2 Years, possibly pitting it in a race in opposition to Apple, which is supposedly operating on a same item of its own.

AR is a tech that observes virtual 3D pictures overlaid onto the actual world. It has a similar tech as handset game applications that allow consumers see digital objects via the displays on their handsets that come into view to be inside the scene captured on their display. The Chinese tech behemoth already has AR apps on its flagship Mate 20 Pro handset.

But CEO of Huawei’s user business, Richard Yu, claimed to the media in a statement that AR devices are in the progress and could take the experience to a whole new level. These would be wearable glasses that permit usurers to feel AR.
